Connecting the Tango Tango PTT Button with Tango Tango

The Tango Tango PTT Button Mini is a PTT button that can be mounted to a phone for easy access - turning any phone into a PTT handset. To connect your Tango Tango PTT Button to the Tango Tango app, follow these directions below, in the order specified.

Connection Instructions

  1. Make sure the PTT Button is physically near your smartphone.
  2. Turn on your smartphone's Bluetooth by going to (in your smartphone's OS menus): Settings —> Bluetooth —> Turn on.
  3. You may want to change the app’s Call Progress Tones settings, since the button allows you to make and participate in PTT calls without opening the app UI. Turning on additional call progress tones may improve the overall experience when operating in this mode.
  4. Configure a Default Callee, which determines what channel to start a call on when the button is pressed. This can be set by long pressing on the desired channel and then enabling Set As Default in the resultant menu.
  5. (iOS Only) -  In the Tango Tango app, go to the Settings - PTT Button menu. Enable the Enable iOS PTT Support setting.
  6. In the Tango Tango SettingsPTT Button menu, click the Add PTT Button then press and hold the device’s PTT button. You should shortly see the device’s unique name in the Nearby Devices pop-up and the bottom of the screen. Click it and the device will appear in the My Devices list on the page.

For iOS users, see also Apple iOS PTT Framework, which provides more details about the new Apple software used for Tango Tango PTT buttons.

My Devices

In the Settings - PTT Button page, the My Devices section shows which devices have been learned and their current connection status. A green dot next to the device means the device is connected. A red dot indicates the device is not connected.

To forget a device, click the trash can icon on the device's row in My Devices.

To reconnect a disconnected device, make sure the device is on and near the smartphone. Click the circular arrow icon on the device's row. If this doesn't work, you may have to forget the device and try to add it again.
