Tango Tango app users may optionally send their GPS location to Tango Tango servers, so that other users within their own organization can view their real-time location. Users can enable or disable this capability in the app’s Settings - Location Services menu.

Setting Enable Location Services to disabled will prevent the app from accessing any location data provided by the device’s operating system. It must be enabled, as a prerequisite to enabling Share Location. Even if the user does not wish to share their own location, setting Enable Location Services to enabled can be useful, as it allows the map views in the app to center on the user’s current location.

Users wishing to share their location with other organization users must enable Enable Location Services and Share Location. If the user wishes to send their location data only during PTT calls, they can enable the Only Share During PTT Call option.

The Tango Tango app uses the device’s activity and motion sensors to intelligently decide how frequently to send location updates. If the device is not moving, location updates will be sent relatively slowly, preserving battery life. If the device is in motion, the device will send updates more frequently and the update rate will be based on the detected speed of the user.

To control how often the device sends location updates, users can adjust the Frequency slider. Sending location updates less frequently will improve battery life.

Data Privacy

For users that have chosen to send the location data gathered by their Tango Tango app, only their last location is stored. No location history is stored. That most recent location data point is stored up to 7 days in the Tango Tango servers before being automatically deleted.

Location data gathered by Tango Tango is only used within the Tango Tango app to display other users’ location on the map views in the app and admin portal. Only users within the user’s organization, and potentially users from other orgs that have executed an interop agreement with the user’s org, will be displayed.

Tango Tango does not sell or otherwise provide user location data to any other 3rd party entity. Location data within our app is not exposed in any way to the operating system of the device hosting that app.

The Google and Apple app stores require that Tango Tango disclose the ways in which all its app data is used. An example of this is shown below:
